Jimmy
Compoli's professional career spans over four decades. As a
winner of the "Ted Mack Amateur Hour," he became a
supporting act for many stars leading to guest appearances on both
radio and television. As a young performer, he entertained
throughout New York and the New England states as an accordion
soloist.
He enlisted in the army during the Vietnam War and
entertained troops there as a "One Man Band" while still
fulfilling his obligation to his country.
Since then, he has
entertained for numerous nightclub engagements, political
functions, organizations, dance clubs, festivals, boat tours,
anniversaries, conventions... and the list goes on. He has
even operated his own business entitled "Just A Dance,"
providing live dance music entertainment.
Today, Jimmy's
concentration and love is stage show performances. As a proud
owner of a Petosa AM-1100 MIDI accordion, he has found the
instrument that, as he puts it, "has the guts to withstand
the demands of live stage show performances."
The MIDI
accordion provides the effect of a "Big Band" sound.
However, the sound you hear is solely Jimmy. The usage of modules
and sample sounds provides endless capabilities for versatility
and orchestration. Jimmy loves to arrange music for upcoming
performances. His thrill is to take a traditional song and arrange
it to excite his audience. The stage shows provide him the
opportunity to receive an instant response to his creativity.
His music is
his passion -- which ranges from the immortal classics up through
modern day jazz and swing. His repertoire includes over 4,000
songs which provides him the music to compliment any occasion.
Jimmy loves the
accordion and strives to revitalize this beautiful instrument for
generations to come. His first CD album, entitled "According
to Jimmy Compoli," is an expression of his passion for the
accordion.
So sit down,
relax, and hear sound clips of Jimmy's album or even email
him. You'll find what he says is true: "I often
practiced to make perfect, to discover that only perfect practice
makes perfect."
